I. POSITION

Role: Director of Development

Hours: 25-40 Hours

  • Location: Fort Worth, TX (in person position)

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Vision of Role

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of The Net’s revenue generation including the major gifts program, grant program, special events, and donor cultivation. The Director of Development must be able to think strategically and practically to implement a comprehensive and results-oriented development plan that includes traditional and innovative strategies. Key components of this plan should include goals, strategies, and timetables that complement a successful prospect-cultivate-stewardship model.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Fundraising 

  • Actively and effectively reach the goal of increasing annual revenue by 20% through a mid-major donors program, helping to increase our monthly giving donor program, grants, and fundraising events. 

  • Mid-Major Donor Retention

    • Develop and lead strategies for existing donors to effectively move them through a meaningful cycle of giving. 

    • Identify, cultivate and solicit current donors through on-going stewardship, and inspire them to become advocates to their network.

    • Provide the relational foundations for the Executive Director to expand and enhance relationships with major donors, as needed.

    • Help to create a development team and be a team lead over the participating staff members.

  • Mid-Major Donor Acquisition

    • Become familiar with a portfolio of qualified donors, and from those relationships identify new viable prospects.

    • Create a custom cultivation and solicitation strategy for each qualified donor. 

    • Create/execute on donor acquisition events. 

  • Grants:

    • Partner with ED to steward existing grant cycles and identify new application opportunities.

    • Oversees foundation relationships with the ED.

  • Fundraising Events

    • Oversee annual fundraising events and work directly alongside ED & Chief of staff in the execution of large-scale fundraisers. 

    • Represent The Net through public appearances and speaking engagements, when needed, to share information about the mission with the community. 

    • Develop a strategy for acquiring and retaining donors from events.

  • Other Responsibilities

    • Oversee fundraising database and monitor revenue tracking systems through monthly report outs to the ED.

    • Oversee the acknowledgement/correspondence of donors.

    • Participate on the development and fundraising committee with the Board of Directors. 

    • Maintain quality, relevant and timely donor data.

    • Communicate with program directors to maintain up to date program stats relevant to donor engagement.

    • Equip and engage internal stakeholders, including staff and board of directors, to participate in the overall fundraising strategy

    • Stay up to date with the latest sex trafficking current news, events and best practices in the field as it relates to ethically communicating on the topic of sex trafficking.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum of 2-4 years in non-profit fundraising and development 

  • Proven track record of securing major gifts, successfully managing campaigns, engaging a community of motivated supporters, and achieving fundraising goals/objectives 

  • Experience with developing and maintaining foundation relationships 

  • Experience in public speaking 

  • Grant writing experience preferred 

  • Experience working within donor databases/CRM software

  • Excellent computer skills including Google Documents, etc. The Net operates on Apple laptops.

  • Ability to develop effective work plans, organize details, set priorities, and meet deadlines!!

COMPENSATION

  • $75,000 - $95,000 for a full time position, depending on background and previous development/fundraising experience
